About

"An impactful, thoughtful book for teens that provides insights about hate and antisemitism, answering the question of what is propaganda, why it is used, and how detrimental and effective it can be. Can Posters Kill examines why and how the Nazis used cartoons and posters to cultivate hate against the Jews and other groups who were targeted, including Roma, Sinti, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people. The book features actual images of hate propaganda with information on hate against the Jews throughout history, and how posters and cartoons played a role during the Holocaust. The book addresses visual propaganda and how it was used to undermine targets of hate and influence ordinary citizens to become victimizers. For over 40 years, author Jerry Faivish has collected 10,000 posters and cartoons from all over the world focusing on Jewish history and culture, with a large section focusing on antisemitic hate and propaganda from the start of the twentieth century through the years of the Holocaust. A retired lawyer, Jerry Faivish has lectured in Canada and internationally on the subject of antisemitic propaganda, and he has been asked by museums and universities, including Harvard, to house and archive his collection of posters."--
